Animal feeding.

Do you support this act?
Me? I don't.
[unless you do it right]

Location: Dinesh's house 3.21pm
I am soon going to witness an act so vile and cruel.
Well.
I made friends with the mouse.
And the mouse is now in the snake tank.
I am not looking.
Those guys are looking this like a mini movie.
And.
I am here blogging.
Let me hear your views on this matter.
I believe in karma.
And this is not good for it.
So guys.
Spill your views now.

p.s.
Dinesh
The cookies are good.
The killing is not.

yes, i do.
i don't advocate lie though.
"making friends" with it mark- essentially terrorizing it.
the purpose of feeding live occasionally is to see one's snake hunt, not to see a mouse die.
about karma- is it not bad karma to let another animal die?

true, i agree with dippi. number one, don't make our feeding of a pet sound so dramatic. it's not, and again, you weren't making friends with it, you were having fun scaring it around. we are not making a mini movie out of it, we're merely concerned that the snake gets hurt. XN is making all the noise and cheering, but he's completly pround of that fact. Also, you ARE looking at the feeding, and you wanna see the snake regurgitate. is that not cruel? as far as dippi and i are concerned, we were all for pre-killing the mouse, and if not for other factors we definatly would have, just as we did for her last two meals. finally, it's neither cruel nor disgusting, but simply nature at it's best.(although mistakes were learnt from previous experiences so there are in fact NO photos off the actual killing).

'we are not making a mini movie out of it'

whats the camera for then?

'and you wanna see the snake regurgitate. is that not cruel?'

You know actually?
I take that as a insult.
I already made it clear it was an example.I was hoping the mouse to be alive again. It was probably in pain.

The gar killing?
You people said it was like awesome and all.?
Really?
So the mouse did not feel any pain
And the time u all threw a second mouse into the gar pond?
That was not for fun?

If I would take a side.
I would go with Dinesh.
Pre killing is the most humane way to feed.

We are all hypocrites.
Yes Matt i agree with you.
But i feel feeding anything but mammmels is alright.
Mammals could get emotionally attacted to people.
Showing that they have emotions.
Therefore manifesting a pity call from me.

'Making Friends'.
i was lamenting over my chem paper.
And i was bored.
I tried to like play around with it for a while.

We are probably guilty of this.
We eat meat.
And i hope the meat i am eating were killed humanely.
Thats all i can hope for.

Leave nature to nature.
If we were to control ,
Do it the most benevolent way.
If the first feeding was accidental, its alright.

Overall, Alex.
Your comment is a side.
And the gar feeding makes this comment totally hypocritical.

I have another point.
'nature at its best'?
Capitivity is already not natural.
Pets are not spending their days searching for food.
It is not exercise either.
The opportunity to be out of their enclosure provides the exercise and stimulation that they need, not chasing a rat or mouse around a small rectangular box.
Info taken from net

Correct me if i am wrong.
I also heard that snakes do eat a fair share of carrions?
They do not need live feeds?

To make it clear.
I am against live killing.
not against animal feeding.

camera was to record snake hunt- not mouse die. and it was no movie, it was a home documentary. to me, at least- and it was my camera. if someone else watches it as entertainment, i would try to educate them.

and the regurgitation stuff is just wholly stupid, so i'll not address it.

i don't really understand what mark's trying to say about the gars. from what i gather, you were saying that the mouse was in pain, and thus we shouldn't still be fascinated by the other animal. i make clear we see the two animals separately and can still feel for the mouse's fate as well as be interested by the gar.
oh and yeah, all feeding that takes place here is necessary. it can be viewed as entertainment, but only those who will see it as such- will.

my side is essentially the same as alex's. i do see katherine as a pet, and do treat her as such. if i could feed her something other than rodents, i would. but since snakes cannot, i will feed rodents- and take no shame in it.

mostly, in the wild, snakes hunt- live animals. if they find freshly dead food, they might [this is the only reason anyone should ever consider feeding live- if their pet religiously refuses prekilled. and trying prekilled is something every snake owner should do] eat it. anyway, i think this point is unnecessary as we do in fact feed prekilled.

i understand your saying that everyone is hypocritical mark, but what the fuck- i dont know if i should hope it's your imperfect english, or you switched sides at least 2 times so far. suggest you reread your post and comments.

dinesh has essentially said everything i would have, however i would like to correct some points.

"But i feel feeding anything but mammmels is alright.

Showing that they have emotions.
"

-get your facts straight. even non-mammals get attatched to people, but that's after long periods of times..just like mammals. so i'm guessing the mouse wasn't exactly attatched to us. plus, are you saying that the guppies we feed to out gars don't get the daylights scarewd out of them when faced with a predator?

"It is not exercise either.
The opportunity to be out of their enclosure provides the exercise and stimulation that they need, not chasing a rat or mouse around a small rectangular box.

apparently your source of info is not right. predatory reptiles (snakes especially) love to hunt, and are normally unable to adapt to captivity because of being unable to do so. thus our feeding of live prey is not so much as to have fun but to allow the snake to enjoy itself.
